2008 Convention
Palm Coast, Florida...A beautiful location and a great convention!
Notes From The Meeting…
At the top of the list was our Keynote Speaker, Bob Hoover. Not only did Bob thrill the audience with stories from his illustrious past, but he stayed for the entire conference! Bob was a real treat at the dinner table, was tireless posing for what seemed like an infinite number of pictures, and socialized with us non-stop. It was a real honor to have Bob among us.
On the educational side of the equation, we had a wide variety if important topics: GPS/WAAS, and Lessons Learned from PC-12 recurrency training by SimCom; Emergency Landings by John Morris; using your computer for weather information by Ron Zasadzinski; and a very informative presentation on flight safety by AOPA’s President, Bruce Landsberg. Also, because of its past popularity, we ran concurrent PC-12 technical walk-arounds at Flagler Airport.
There was great excitement at the convention over the Next Generation PC-12. Both Honeywell and Pilatus spent much of their time briefing us about the improvements to the NG. With the PC-12 NG order picture as it is, and the first three new generation planes already delivered, it is clear that the aviation community is equally excited by the PC-12 NG.
Honeywell described the Apex Glass Cockpit at length, which is a substantial upgrade in the cockpit. In addition, they offered a full day in-classroom training program on Sunday. It was extraordinarily well received; attended by over 25 people. We appreciate Honeywell’s willingness to offer the course. This seminar was presented to POPA members free of charge. If you did not get an opportunity to attend, there is a presentation CD available to members. Contact Pam Mannon direct at pamela.mannon@honewell.com. She will be happy to help you.
Finally, we were pleased by all those who stayed for the closing dinner and auction. We are especially grateful to all those sponsors and individuals who contributed goods and services to the auction, and to those of you who generously opened your mouths and wallets during the bidding process.
Support
We would not be able to continue to operate and host an annual convention, without the continuing support of all our partners and sponsors. Thank you again to all our annual supporting partners who help to support POPA throughout the year, all of this year’s convention sponsors, and, of course a sincere thank you and appreciation for all the vendors participation.
